Recovery Housing Program Training & Technical Assistance

In 2024, the Michigan State Housing Development Authority contracted with TAC to offer training and consultation to U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funded recovery housing program (RHP) operators. This engagement included the delivery of interactive virtual sessions to orient RHP operators to recovery housing program best practices as outlined by the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA); strategies for building cross-system partnerships; and the role of harm reduction in helping people with substance use disorders who relapse to secure appropriate supports and interventions. Additionally, TAC is offering individualized technical assistance on recovery housing best practices to funded operators on topics such as working with HUD homeless Continuums of Care; public housing agencies and landlords; crisis response and critical incident protocols and practices; and best practices and partnerships to assist tenants with employment supports, educational services, and acquiring benefits and entitlements.
