Since 2019, TAC has partnered with Mathematica to provide subject matter expertise and technical assistance (TA) under a Medicaid 1115 Demonstration support contract with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). TAC helps facilitate and support cross-state analyses of data and project information for substance use disorder (SUD) demonstrations, and helps coordinate and deliver TA to states regarding the development and expansion of innovative state strategies to provide housing-related supports and services under Medicaid for individuals with SUD, as directed by Section 1018 of the Substance Use Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment (SUPPORT) for Patients and Communities Act. TAC’s work includes conducting a needs assessment regarding state activities in providing housing-related supports and services to individuals with SUD under Medicaid, and assessing related state TA needs. Findings from the needs assessment will help inform the development and implementation of Section 1018 activities including a state learning collaborative and additional TA and support activities that CMS can implement to address state needs and disseminate best practices.
