Massachusetts 911 Call Study

In 2020, on behalf of the Massachusetts Massachusetts Community Policing and Behavioral Health Advisory Council, the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health contracted with the Massachusetts Association for Mental Health (MAMH) to develop a crisis services study, and MAMH selected TAC as its partner in the initiative. MAMH and TAC initiated the study in May of 2022. The resulting document, Massachusetts 911 Call Study: Assessing the Potential to Divert Behavioral Health Calls to Alternative Responses, reports the results of TAC’s comprehensive review and evaluation of existing crisis intervention, alternative emergency response and jail diversion models, services, and programs in the Commonwealth at the state, county, and municipal levels, and describes models used effectively in other jurisdictions.
