VA Awards Local Grants to Prevent & End Homelessness
On September 14, 2015, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary Robert A. McDonald announced $300 million in renewal funding for the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program. The recently released SSVF Annual Report details the success this critical program has had in preventing and ending homelessness among Veterans. TAC, along with its primary partner Abt Associates, and targeted partners the National Alliance to End Homelessness and the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, provides technical assistance, resource development, community coordination, and direct training in an effort to improve the SSVF program's implementation practices and outcomes nationwide.
This funding announcement is the final award in new SSVF funds made available in fiscal year (FY) 2014. This renewal funding will support SSVF services in FY 2016, which starts Oct. 1, 2015 and ends Sept. 30, 2016.
