HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION

TAC provides technical assistance, research, training, and policy recommendations pertaining to homelessness diversion and prevention. TAC works with local and state government agencies, Continuum of Care (CoC) planning groups, consortiums of non-profit organizations engaging in prevention planning, individual non-profit agencies developing prevention programs, and charitable foundations with giving campaigns prioritizing diversion and prevention of homelessness.

TAC's expertise includes technical knowledge of all public funding programs that can be used for prevention and diversion and strategies for using empirical research on the success and public cost savings achieved through prevention to leverage private contributions and partnerships at the local level. TAC is also an expert on national best practices for planning, coordinating, and modeling regional homelessness prevention and diversion initiatives that involve the repurposing of existing public investments away from emergency systems and towards homelessness prevention activities.

Recent Projects:

Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing (HPRP): TAC's experience includes assisting small and large cities in planning uses for Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing funds, developing HPRP sub-grantee contracts, creating HPRP Policies and Procedures, and facilitating public planning processes to determine the shape and goals for this program in each locality. TAC wrote a training and policy guide on implementation of HPRP for the City of Boston that is now used as a model in many jurisdictions.
